What is Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a fast-growing health care discipline that focuses on disorders of the spine and surrounding joints, and the effects of these disorders on general health. Specific to Doctors of Chiropractic is the chiropractic adjustment (manipulation). The spinal adjustment is the process of using a specific force in a precise direction, applied to a joint that is not moving properly. The adjustment restores motion to the joint thus relieving the pressure that is placed on the nerves that exit the spinal or extremity joints. The end-result of the adjustment is restored joint movement, increased circulation to that joint and a resultant relaxing of the musculature and tendons that attach to the bones and joints. There are many ways to adjust the spine. Our preferred way is manual manipulation (“hands-on adjusting”), though in some cases we may opt to use an instrument that delivers a brief, highly accurate thrust.

In addition to addressing musculoskeletal conditions we are at the forefront of the alternative health care revolution. We recognize that to achieve optimal health requires an equal balance of the physical/structural, chemical/nutritional and emotional/mental states of the human body. By formulating a customized treatment plan, we help our patients strive for and achieve their healthcare goals. Along with the physical examination, our doctors also use various methods of testing to more accurately diagnose and effectively treat health conditions. These in-office methods include muscle testing, saliva testing, hair analysis, stool analysis, allergy testing, and esthetics evaluation. Additionally, we are partnered with most area hospitals to prescribe blood testing, x-rays, CT scans and MRI’s if necessary. We understand the primary reason people come to our office is because they are in pain or are not feeling as healthy and vital as they expect to be feeling.  We are trained at identifying stressors on the human body that are having a significant impact on a person’s health.  We help facilitate changes and create a plan that will not only benefit a patients’ short-term “symptom relief” goals, but also educate them on making changes that will prevent future health-related maladies. We educate our patients on how to live healthy lifestyles, reduce pain naturally, increase metabolism and energy,  and achieve new levels of vitality.
